Halal food standards in Kuwait. Certification requirements, import regulations, and how to display halal status on restaurant menus.
## Halal Standards in Kuwait
Kuwait enforces strict halal standards for all food establishments:
### Requirements
- All meat must be halal-certified and sourced from approved suppliers
- Pork and pork-derived products are prohibited
- Alcohol is completely prohibited in Kuwait
- Separate utensils for any non-halal ingredients (gelatin, etc.)
- Halal certification documentation must be available for inspection
### Menu Display
- Halal certification status should be visible on the menu
- Any items containing non-halal ingredients (e.g., vanilla extract with alcohol) must be clearly marked
- Vegetarian and vegan items should be labeled for clarity
## How Qaima Helps
Qaima includes a "Halal" dietary tag that can be applied to menu items. The tag appears prominently on the customer-facing menu, giving diners confidence in their choices.
